Twitter Doubles Character Count

I think we've all had to face the age-old question of which grammar atrocity to commit in order to fit an opinion into a 140 character tweet.

Easier said than done, Steve. ^  But no more!

Twitter has expanded their character count to 280. That's right. Now you can fit double the details of your political rant into one Tweet.

So far my Twitter life has mostly been affected by this silly dog account that now has way more room to include dog-like thoughts into one Tweet.

10/10 I recommend you follow @dog_feelings. Missing your dog? Just love dogs? Go read Thoughts of Dog's feed.

But so far, I haven't seen businesses taking advantage of this change. Maybe they're unaware? Or maybe this is strategic.

The whole appeal of a Tweet is that it's succinct and straight to the point. It's a welcome change of pace from the other social media platforms.

So will corporate Tweets increase in length? I don't foresee that changing overnight, but I'm sure everyone's thankful for the extra wiggle room. The audience is used to a certain way of things, and integration is all about adapting to each platform's parameters, so why step on anyone's toes.

Do you think your favorite brands will take advantage of longer Tweets? Let me know in the comments!
